Ahhh Spring! A time of rebirth and renewal! It’s a time to clean out those closets and make room for new energy and new pieces that will give you that extra pep in your step. I’m getting nostalgic looking back at these pictures of my old closet. This closet was a special place – it was where a lot of brainstorming and some serious outfit planning went down. Before I moved, I got rid of a ton of pieces! A few of you have been asking me to do a closet sale since I’m cleaning out my wardrobe again – and it’s something I will definitely consider. ;) If you haven’t already read the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up I highly recommend you doing so. It’s all about decluttering your space to help make room for inspiration and creativity. For closet storage – I love these Ikea bookshelves and this rolling rack. You can’t go wrong with fun wicker baskets for scarves, bathing suits, and belts. Keep old shoe boxes and use them as storage for odds + ends. Toss plastic hangers and order these velvet non slip ones. Organize your clothes by season and buy under the bed storage bins or consider renting a small storage unit if necessary (I used Box Butler in NYC and had a great experience – and no this isn’t sponsored!) Donate or consign anything you haven’t worn in a year (I loved Second Time Around consignment store.) And finally the wardrobe mantra I live by; invest in classic pieces you’ll have for years to come! Less is more – quality over quantity.

[…] I basically copied almost everything in her bedroom – from her bed, to her linen bedding, bench, shearling rug, and rustic wood nightstand! I couldn’t resist – and luckily she didn’t mind :) Most of the furniture is from Restoration Hardware, so I’m including some similar, more affordable options below. Pro tip: if you find let’s say, a dresser you love, but you hate the knobs or handles – just swap them out for chicer ones from Anthropologie – completely changes the look! I did this with a ton of Ikea furniture in my NYC apartment. […]
