One of my goals moving forward is to highlight more small businesses, BIPOC businesses, female owned businesses, and black owned businesses. Today I’m focusing on spotlighting black owned businesses. Many I’ve supported and loved for years, while others have been recent discoveries thanks to social media. I hope you’ll love them as much as I do!
Black Owned Businesses
I’ve always been obsessed with Cushnie pieces – they’re all incredibly glamorous! Can we talk about this draped silk cream tank? And this hot red dress, and this navy blue cocktail dress?!
I first discovered Lemlem cover ups at Barney’s years ago – you may remember this one I wore in Ibiza! The colors and patterns she uses are gorgeous. I have my eye on this dress and this dress. Also found several on sale here!
Local European, Clothing
Every single piece in this collection is for the ultimate cool girl. Cropped tanks, cargo trousers, and cropped crewnecks – yes please.
Elia Vintage, Clothing
Can I have one of everything? Oversized menswear style blazers, slouchy trousers, button down blouses, and flattering midi skirts galore.
Riot Swim, Swimwear
If you need a new suit for summer, look no further. This swim collection is full of sexy cut out and ruched suits that flatter any body type. You can shop their suits here, and check out their IG for better pictures here.
I recently discovered this line and am swooning over this red wrap skirt and elegant white jumpsuit!
Oma The Label, Clothing and Jewelry
Another new discovery, this collection is full of gold statement pieces, chic bodysuits, and flattering tops. I LOVE this white bodysuit and this gold necklace in particular.
Omi Woods, Jewelry
I just ordered this gold signet ring and this gold coin necklace. The quality looks amazing – and they will layer beautifully with my other jewels.
Salone Monet, Shoes
This simple, but chic shoe line carries a wide range of strappy heels for all skin tones. They give you legs for days!
Brother Vellies, Shoes
My eye immediately went for these lace up brown leather heeled sandals. NEED!
Sotah, Haircare Line
My best friend Talun’s mom is the founder of Sotah Hair; a super hydrating haircare line. I can’t recommend the shampoo + conditioner enough – they are so nourishing and smell heavenly!!!
Breukelen, Non-toxic nail polish
Thank you to the reader who shared this wonderful company with me! Started by a teacher in Brooklyn, NY, this non-toxic nail polish company is quickly becoming a cult favorite. This light pink color is to-die-for.
Stefanie François, Hairstylist at the Salon at Bergdorf Goodman
Stefanie has been cutting my hair for the past 7 years. She’s one of the only people I trust to touch my hair! She has the best energy and her new spot at the Salon at Bergdorf is gorgeous.
Jenelle Hamilton, Publicist/Founder of Jenelle Hamilton PR
My dear friend Jenelle is an incredible business woman and publicist. She does everything from fashion, to beauty, event and celebrity PR. She lived in NYC for years, before recently relocating to Beverly Hills. And she works with clients all over the country.
Kareem Mathieu, Personal Trainer
Kareem has been my trainer for years. He KICKS my butt every week and has completely changed my body. I first started working out with him when he was teaching boxing at Gotham Gym, but now he does private sessions and comes to wherever you are in NYC! We do a mix of boxing and circuit training once a week. We’ve been Face-timing these past few months due to COVID-19.
Venita Aspen, Blogger, Model, and Creative Director
Venita and I first met while we were modeling for our friend Julia’s Gal Meets Glam collection. She’s insanely talented when it comes to all things creative. Whether she’s in front of or behind the camera, she brings her A game.
I’d love to hear some of your favorite black owned businesses! I will continue updating this post as I discover more amazing brands and companies.
