I’m so excited to share my first wellness retreat experience with you! Last summer my best girlfriends were going in on another Hamptons share house and while that sounded like a lot of fun, I was ready for a change. I started researching yoga and surfing retreats and came across the Anamaya Wellness Retreat. It was advertised as a 1 week adventure that took place in the middle of the jungle in Costa Rica. Homemade vegan meals, zip lining, 30 like minded women, twice daily yoga, surfing, horseback riding, and your very own treehouse? I signed up immediately and began packing!
I brought few possessions with me except the essentials; a bikini, a backpack, hiking shoes, workout clothes, pajamas, toiletries, a hat, and of course a watch. My new Fossil Q Hybrid Smartwatch was the perfect thing to pack because it goes with just about everything. It couldn’t have been more ideal for the retreat. The leather strap is the prettiest neutral color so I’ve been able to dress it up and down – everywhere from brunch to ziplining through the jungle (which btw was the highlight of the trip and also one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever done!) What I love about this watch is that it’s so versatile and stylish – so you would never know it’s a hybrid smartwatch. It’s a complete lifesaver when I travel: it updates instantly, sends me text and email notifications, and my favorite feature, tracks my steps. I love tracking my steps whether I’m traveling or not – and aim to get at least 10,000 or more a day.
If you’re debating whether or not to go on a wellness retreat – I can’t recommend one enough. A small jumper plane flew me into the small town of Montezuma where I took a bumpy dirt road in a van with 10 strangers about an hour away to the property. The grounds were rustic and charming and I had never smelled air so fresh – I felt instantly relaxed the second I stepped on the property. Monkeys woke me up daily and I was joined by many critters in our outdoor showers – all a part of the experience LOL. You learn and grow spiritually, mentally, and physically. You make lifelong friends and challenge yourself in ways you never knew were possible. And you experience things you can’t anywhere else (like getting woken up my monkeys or sipping from a fresh coconut after 4 hours of surfing!)
