It’s been 1 month since I moved to LA! I’m happy to report that I love it, already feel at home, and kind of can’t believe I didn’t move sooner!! I’ve been slowly, but surely getting settled here and wanted to share a few updates. The most frequently asked questions I’ve gotten from friends and readers have been; What do you miss most about NYC? Will your style change? To answer – the thing I miss most about NYC is my friends! I miss walking out the door and being able to pick up the phone and say “Hey I’m right by your apartment, are you home? Wanna come downstairs and grab a coffee?” I miss spontaneous Soul Cycle dates, brunches, wine nights, etc. Everyone is a bit more spread out here in LA (with traffic it can sometimes take up to 45 minutes to meet a girlfriend.) So I definitely miss the spontaneity and my besties! I am very fortunate, however, that I do have friends and family here in LA. My two aunts live 30 minutes away and I’ve got girlfriends from middle school, college, and blogging that live in the area. Has my style changed? Yes! I’ve gotten a bit more casual (sandals over heels!) and am getting so much inspiration from the chic girls I see walking down Abbot Kinney or on Melrose. I feel way more domestic because I finally have a full size kitchen and actually enjoy grocery shopping (Erewhon market is heaven on earth.) I love eating outside on my back patio, waking up to sunshine, and being 3 blocks from the beach. Everyone I’ve met thus far has been insanely friendly and there’s such an overwhelmingly huge community of freelancers and creatives so I feel like I fit right in. The pace is a lottttt slower, especially here in Venice, which I love and it’s what drew me here – but of course it’s an adjustment for this former non-stop, go, go go, overachieving New York gal! Dating here is quite different as well…which I quickly found out when my first date rolled up in a tank top and on rollerblades. We went for a walk along the boardwalk (errr I walked, he skated) and got ice cream. Prettttty different from the buttoned up, high strung finance guys I had been dating in NYC LOL. I’m enjoying all the different aspects that this city has to offer and can’t wait to share more updates with you guys as I continue to nest (hopefully no more bad date stories involving rollerblades though!) ;)
