The definition of Shabby Chic is, “a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their age and signs of wear and tear or new items are distressed in order to achieve the appearance of an antique” (wikipedia). I titled this post “Refined Shabby Chic” because the term Shabby Chic covers a wide spectrum of decor. There is some Shabby Chic decor that I find sickeningly pink, floral, ruffled, and over accessorized. But, when it’s done right, like in these rooms below and in this previous post here, it is feminine, warm and just plain pretty. I think the key to “good” Shabby Chic is choosing one floral fabric, one or two pastel colors, and a few select antique pieces.

Love this decor. I def agree that it can get too over the top with all those blue and pink florals. One pattern is good. But my favorite look of shabby chic is just white and wood. These pictures are fantastic.
I love this! I love white walls with dark wood floors.
Love these images. Great finds!
