I was in Del Mar last summer and decided to make reservations at Kitchen 1540, a great restaurant at the L’Auberge Del Mar Hotel. The second I got out of the elevator and stepped foot in L’Auberge my jaw dropped. The interiors blew me away (this picture doesn’t even do it justice).
I asked the front desk who designed it, and they gave me Barclay Butera’s book. Ever since then, I’ve been a HUGE fan of his. I love traditional New England interior design – updated. He achieves that look by mixing old and new pieces and incorporating bright colors. Here are a few other samples of his work.
