City Guide: Scottsdale, Arizona

A friend from boarding school is coming into town and asked me if I could give him a few upscale restaurant suggestions for his mom’s birthday dinner.  A lot of restaurants came to mind, but I was able to narrow it down to six that have spectacular food, ambiance, and service.

Olive and Ivy – American/Italian cuisine, best patio in town, focaccia and pesto brought out to you the second you are seated, lobster and risotto is a must have.
The Capital Grille – Very upscale, their filet mignon, chopped salad, lobster mac and cheese are favorites, go to the Biltmore Fashion Park location so you can take a nice evening stroll after dinner.
Elements – Located at the prestigious Sanctuary Resort and Spa on Camelback mountain, the location and views will knock your socks off, and the food is (obviously) delicious.
Chelsea’s Kitchen – American gourmet, more casual than others but great ambience, cozy patio along the with a huge fireplace, roasted chicken and shoe string barbeque flavored french fries are upscale comfort food you can’t go wrong with.
Sassi – Award winning Italian, several dining areas, from intimate to open, to choose from, gorgeous desert setting surrounds the restaurant.
The Mission – Modern Latin Cuisine, always on the list of best restaurants in town, in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, chocolate churros and vanilla bean ice cream dessert is a perfect way to end the night.
