This recipe is from one of my four Ina Garten Barefoot Contessa cookbooks. Fresh, gourmet, All-American food is what Ina is known for. These pizzas are simple and fun to customize.
1/2 cup Warm Water (approx. 100 degrees)
1 package Dry yeast
1.5 teaspoons Honey
1.5 tablespoons Olive oil
1 teaspoon Kosher salt
2 cups Flour
Bunch of Basil leaves
Combine water, yeast, honey and olive oil with an electric mixer. Then add flour and salt and mix for 5 minutes. Knead the dough by hand until dough is soft. Put dough into another bowl with some olive oil so it doesn’t stick. Cover bowl with towel for 30 minutes.
Divide the dough into 3 balls and roll each ball out so it is about 1/2 inch thick. Brush dough with olive oil. Bake at 500 degrees for 7 minutes. Then add any toppings and put back for another 7 minutes.
