This cake is famous for a reason; it is hands down the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had. My mom has been making this since I can remember, for every birthday, holiday, or special occasion.Chocolate Cake Bowl 1 Flour Mixture: 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons Flour 1 teaspoon Baking powder 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda Pinch of Salt Bowl 2 Chocolate Mixture: 1/4 cup Sugar 1 tablespoon Cocoa powder 2 squares Baker’s unsweetened chocolate (chop into tiny pieces) 1/3 cup Boiling water Bowl 3 Butter Mixture: 1 cup Sugar 1.5 sticks Butter 1/2 cup Sour cream 1 tablespoon Rum 2 Eggs Using a hand held beater, mix the Chocolate mixture until chocolate pieces melt completely. Then pour Butter mixture into Chocolate mixture and mix. Then pour Flour mixture in and mix everything together. Take a sheet of parchment paper and cut out a circle to line the bottom of the cake pan. Pour the mixture into pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Glaze 2 tablespoons Water 2 tablespoons Butter 4 tablespoons Powdered sugar 1/4 cup Chocolate chips 1 teaspoon Rum Once cake is done and out of oven, make the glaze. I call it a glaze because it is much lighter (and better) than a typical frosting. Heat a pot of water on medium heat. Place a bowl on top of the pot. Add ingredients to the bowl and whisk until lump free. Let cool for 5 minutes and frost cake. Enjoy!
