It’s been so fun experimenting with different cocktails every week for our “Cocktails with Tom” Instagram Live series. Last week, Thomas bought fresh grapefruits from the store and decided he wanted to make Palomas. I had never had one before, but I’m so glad I tried it, because it’s insanely delicious! It’s such a refreshing cocktail and made our entire kitchen smell heavenly.
An Everyday Skirt
I’ve been making a better effort to get dressed, but comfort is still my top priority. This easy, everyday midi/maxi skirt from Walmart Fashion has a linen-like material and stretch waist so it’s perfect for spring and summer days. I ordered it in black and white (the white is more sheer so definitely wear a slip underneath it.) It looks elegant paired with a white button down like this one, a bodysuit, or even a t-shirt knotted at the waist. I can also see myself wearing it over a swimsuit on a hot summer day! It runs true to size (I got a small), but if you’re in between sizes and short, I would recommend sizing down!
Perfect White Button Down
I own several white button down blouses and rotate them all frequently! They’re a staple in my wardrobe and honestly, I feel like you can never have too many. I love the material of this one from Walmart’s Fashion section – it’s soft, ties up beautifully at your waist (but also looks great worn as is), and isn’t see through/too sheer. Best part is it’s under $10. PS it runs true to size.
Gold Lace Up Sandals
Ok can we talk about these sandals? I gasped when I saw them online. A pair of gold lace up sandals that I wore to death, were getting so beat up and I’ve been on the HUNT for a new pair. I’m VERY picky about lace up sandals though, and don’t like a ton of bells + whistles on them poking at my feet. These ones are beautiful – they’re the best gold shade (not too yellowy/shiny and not too matte/silvery haha – I told you I’m picky), the soles have a nice padding, and they lace up around the ankle, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can tie them up higher to your shin. They’re going to sell out really fast I guarantee so snap them up at Walmart Fashion while you can!
Paloma Cocktail Recipe
1/4 cup fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 teaspoon sugar or simple syrup
1/4 cup tequila
1/4 cup club soda
1 grapefruit wedge
Sugar (or salt) + maraschino cherry juice for rim
Combine sugar or salt and a teaspoon of red maraschino cherry juice on a plate. Rub the rim of your glass with water or a bit of lime juice and stick it in the sugar + cherry mixture. This will give your cocktail a fun, colorful rim! Combine grapefruit juice, sugar, and lime juice so that the sugar dissolves. Then add in the tequila and shake over ice. Pour into your glass with an ice cube and top with club soda. Enjoy!
