November in Nolita

Happy November! I had a much needed low key weekend at home after a busy social week. I’m reading a book called Quiet which celebrates introverts and talks about how our society deeply undervalues them. As an introvert myself, this book is really helping me better understand myself and why I like/dislike certain things. I highly recommend it if you know or have an inkling that you are an introvert as well! Mercury is in retrograde right now which means things are always a little bit more difficult with communication, relationships, and more. Call me “woo woo” but I really believe in this, and amp up my self care routines during this period. It always last a few weeks, and so I just make an effort to meditate, go to therapy, take a yoga class, and relax at home with baths + face masks + movies. Now let’s talk about my outfit ;) This gorgeous black fall coat is from my friend Julia’s line; Gal Meets Glam. Julia is one of the sweetest, most hardworking bloggers in the business and I love what she has done with her brand. Her coat collection is a new addition to GMG and they are all beautiful. The quality is excellent, and I’ve been wearing this coat nonstop since she sent it to me. It’s warm, classic, and so easy to toss on. I recommend sizing down if you’re in between sizes since it runs big. I’m wearing an XS here. I paired this coat with my new Schutz heels (so affordable!), and fun houndstooth trousers. I love a trouser – especially a houndstooth print. Also, I linked 7+ options below of all price ranges. As a fun accessory, I brought out my Steamline Luggage hat box which is not only functional, but chic as a home decor/closet accessory! I linked another option here which comes in several colors and would make a great gift for the fashionista in your life!

The Perfect Silk Blouse

Hi! It’s me! I’m alive! I have never taken such a long break from blogging and let me tell you, I really, really missed it! Things have been nonstop for me, with trips every few days for the past month (I’ve legit been living out of my suitcase!) and a zillion projects on Instagram that have been pulling me away from blogging. Can I let you in on a little secret? I prefer blogging verse posting on IG. I really do. I’m so grateful for all of the projects I get on BOTH platforms, but I really love the art of storytelling through a blog post. The thing with IG is that it’s fleeting content. People will look at your photo for a few seconds and then scroll onto the next photo and the next photo… On a blog, you can really take time to pour through posts, read through the copy, and bookmark things to come back to again and again. Sure you can save things on IG, but with a website – content lives on, and is relevant for YEARS. I mean, some of my most popular outfit posts are from 5 years ago! You can search for specific content on a website/blog, whereas Instagram doesn’t have a search tab within each person’s page. Instagram feels trendy to me, more click bait-y, and it’s brimming with “look at me!” staged captures, whereas blogs feel more genuine and personal. You can subtly tell a story and make your point… and really build up to something. But, that’s just me – call me old fashioned, or traditional I guess!!! The Perfect Silk BlouseAnyways, let’s talk about my outfit shall we?! Ok so this blouse is a dream, and I picked it up when I was in LA a few months ago. It’s from an up and coming brand; Nanushka, who makes gorgeous, quality pieces. It’s a pricier blouse, but it’s made of the thickest, most incredible silk, and the tailoring is perfection. It’s one of those pieces you slip on and feel like a million bucks in. We ALL need a blouse like this – trust me. It also comes in black (SWOON!) I wore this blouse with my favorite Re/Done jeans which make your butt look AMAZE, and leopard pumps. You could easily wear this top with a leather pencil skirt, white jeans, blue jeans, or black trousers. The black version of the blouse would look stunning with tan trousers wouldn’t it? If you’re in the market for a leopard pump, there are some great ones online right now under $150. Some that stood out to me are…these ones, these ones, these ones (under $100), and these!

Sweater Weather in Soho

I love summer, but I must say, I’m soooo excited for fall! It’s been cool and crisp in the morning here in NYC, and I’ve been able to pull out light cardigans like this one and this one. I love the creamy beige color and texture of this sweater. It also comes in 5 other colors from Walmart’s Fashion section – I’m eyeing the black and tan next! They could easily be paired with a simple slip dress, or skirt + + boot look too. The material is so soft, and the tortoise buttons are a beautiful touch. It’s the ideal sweater for this season – and it’s only $17!!! I paired my sweater with black Levi’s and a simple cream V-neck. I’m obsessed with the fit of these Levi’s (and price – they’re under $23 and also from Walmart Fashion!) They come up just high enough, and have the perfect amount of stretch to them. They hit right above the ankle for me (I’m almost 5’7″) so they’d be a great pair of jeans if you’re shorter than that because you wouldn’t have to get them altered. This is such a nice drapey T to have hanging in your closet, especially if you love a longer style to tuck into pants, or wear loose. I suggest sizing down if you’re in between sizes. I finished off my look with a classic black pump that has a low heel so I can actually walk long distances around the city in them! They’re a beautiful shape, and also come in 3 other colors. Another pump I am loving and that would totally go with this outfit are these leopard ones. Aren’t they TO DIE?! They’re from the new SCOOP collection available exclusively at Walmart Fashion! You may remember SCOOP from back in the day when they had a flagship store in Soho! I used to shop there alllll the time and loved their classic, but still cool/on trend pieces. I love this collaboration because it brings SCOOP back online with price points that are all super accessible. How gorgeous is this leather jacket? And this oversized boyfriend black blazer? Ohhh and these navy pinstripe trousers? Linking to a few more of my faves below….(they’ve got some great midi printed wrap dresses for work!)

A Classic September Outfit

Hello hello! It feels good to be blogging again after a few weeks off. Thomas and I went to Italy 2 weeks ago, and for the first time EVER I didn’t bring my laptop. It’s crazy to think that in 9 years of running my business, I hadn’t fully disconnected and left my laptop at home until then! It was much needed and really, really important for me to relax, be present, and leave my work demands at home. This was a super transformative summer for me, and with a new season upon us, I’m feeling extra reflective. I wanted to share a little life update + recap as well as this fall-esque outfit! Life UpdateAs most of you have seen on IG – I’ve been dating my boyfriend Thomas now for the past few months. We actually met 4 years ago, and went on one date, but I was moving to Paris the following week for the entire summer, so we lost touch. Fast forward to me moving back to NYC… I threw a housewarming party, and our mutual friend reconnected us. T and I hit it off (again) immediately and the rest is kind of history! He moved in, and I could not be more excited to start this new chapter of my life with him! Timing really is everything, and love usually comes into your life when you’re least expecting it. For all you single ladies – some advice, don’t be with anyone you can’t be 100% yourself with. Don’t let ANYONE dull your sparkle (as cheesy as that sounds), and do not settle – ever. Love yourself and build a life you’re proud of, and you will attract your person I guarantee it. DO YOU and the rest will fall into place. And trust me, when you know, you know. I’ve been blogging a bit less than usual this summer, purely because I’ve been wanting to enjoy my new relationship/put my personal life first for once, AND because I’ve had a huge increase in IG only dedicated projects that are super time consuming! It’s been interesting to see how the industry has shifted and changed over the years – and it has changed A LOT. To be honest, I’m still figuring out how to run my blog and IG (which are essentially two very different and demanding platforms and businesses) at the same time! This summer, I really prioritized my relationships and just tried to create more of a work/life balance overall. I feel healthier and happier than ever before no doubt because of this. HighlightsThere were so many highlights this summer – it really was the best summer of my life! I’ll share a few! Obviously reconnecting with Thomas was #1 and our trip to Italy was incredible. I’ll be updating the Rome and Capri sections of my Travel App with some fun new spots we checked out. You know I loooove to travel, so all of my trips this summer were really special. From Montauk, to Nantucket, LA, Santa Barbara, Rome and Capri – I enjoyed each and every destination! Settling into my new NYC apartment has been great, I adore my neighborhood, the space, and all of the new friends I’ve made around me. Being featured in the EARN IT book alongside Tory Burch and Martha Stewart was definitely a career highlight, and sharing my journey on The Skinny Confidential podcast was another! Lastly, celebrating my sister’s engagement and now wedding (which is in 2 days!) has been so meaningful. I finally finished my MOH speech last night and can’t stop tearing up thinking about it! Thank youIt’s been such a joy to connect with you, my readers, on here, via email, in person, and on IG over the last (almost decade!) and especially this summer with everything that has been going on in my life. I’m so grateful for the community of women I’m surrounded by, and hope that my content and platforms continue to be a source of positivity, inspiration, and wisdom for years to come! Thank you for your continued support. XO Kat
