Cozy Loungewear

Thomas and I had a relaxing Valentine’s Day at home yesterday. He cooked me dinner and we indulged in one too many treats! It was so nice to unwind together after a busy week. I wore this cozy loungewear for our romantic night in. Cozy LoungewearThis grey cardigan is SO reasonable (it’s under $8!!!) and comes in several colors. It’s made of such a nice, thick material and drapes perfectly. My pet peeve with long cardigans is when they don’t stay on your shoulders, are too thin, or get stretched out. This one stays put and is really good quality! It’s from a line that I buy a ton of my cozy loungewear from; Walmart Fashion’s Time and Tru collection. All of the pieces are so classic, affordable, and high quality. Classic DenimI’ve always loved a stretchy, mid rise skinny jean. They’re so flattering and when you find ones like these black ones – you never want to take them off! I can’t wear low rise jeans anymore – they just aren’t practical for my lifestyle (I’m always bending over to pick up Charlie!) and stretch is a necessity! A few other jeans I like are; these light wash ones, these ripped hem ones, and these light grey distressed ones. Henley T-shirtsI bought 3 of these cotton henley t-shirts because I knew I would wear them all the time. The short sleeve white one I’m wearing here is my FAVE. I also got it in the long sleeve version, and the tan color. It’s a great basic that you can layer or wear alone. I know I’ll wear this short sleeve one all spring/summer long. Spring Transition PiecesSpeaking of spring, Walmart Fashion has a ton of cute items for the upcoming season (which I am COUNTING DOWN until!) I love that their SCOOP collection always has classic yet on trend pieces that I can easily mix and match. I just ordered this white v-neck sweater, this elegant paisley skirt, and this chic sweater tank. Shop more of my favorite pieces from Walmart Fashion below like this sweater dress and these corduroy jeans I wear all the time (I have them in the ivory color.) Enjoy your weekend!

Styling A Sweater Dress

How To Style A Sweater DressI’ve been gravitating toward more dresses and skirts lately because I’m getting overly excited for spring (aren’t we all?!) – and in an effort not to freeze, I’ve been pairing them with over the knee boots. I still kind of freeze, but it’s better than nothing! This is an old sweater dress I’ve had for years, TBH it’s getting a bit short on me, but I just can’t part ways with it (yet!) I love a good sweater dress towards the end of winter when I’m tired of wearing jeans/pants. Some of my current favorites are…this one from Topshop (on sale for $45), this one from DVF (also on sale and so elegant), and this one (love the color.) Over The Knee BootsEveryone needs a pair of boots that make them feel fierce the second they slip them on. You know that feeling I’m talking about…. Boots that make you stand a little taller, walk a little faster, and have that extra pep in your step. These grey suede over the knee boots do just that for me. I could be wearing a simple all black outfit, and then slip these on and I instantly look chicer. They’re one of my favorite date night/going out shoes and hold many fun memories for me. Plus they’re warm which is a must in the winter here! A few other grey boots I’m loving; these, these and these. Spring Transition DressesOk let’s get back to talking about SPRING! WARM WEATHER!!!! It’s starting to heat up in many parts of the country – especially the west coast and I wanted to share a few of my favorite spring transition dresses here. This sweetheart neckline dress is so feminine, the deep blush color of this dress is gorgeous, this one is realllllly elegant, and this one is fun + sassy if you want to show off your legs!

10 Fun Date Night Ideas

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and maybe you’re like me and over the same ol’ dinner plans. Or maybe you’re just looking for a few fun date night ideas. Either way, I wanted to share a few of our favorite date nights and ways to switch things up a bit. (Send this to your hubby! ;0) Fun Date Night Ideas Game Night We LOVE playing Scrabble and got a special edition board from T’s sister for Christmas. I’m insanely competitive and we keep an ongoing score! We drink martinis and have cheese while we play! Cozy Night In Make homemade popcorn (it’s so easy and makes ALL the difference – all you need are kernels, coconut oil, pink sea salt and a pot!), and put on a classic movie like Casablanca, Thomas Crown Affair, or any of the James Bond movies. Whip up an Italian Dish Even if you can’t cook – it’s fun to try with wine flowing and classic Italian music playing in the background. Make a big cheese plate to nosh on so you don’t get hangry before the food is ready! Try lasagna, chicken parm, and turkey meatballs. Staycation Get out of your day to day environment and book a cool hotel for a night! Meet at the lobby bar, and enjoy all of the hotel amenities – from the pool to the spa, restaurants and more. It will totally spice things up. Do Something Sporty Bond with your man over his favorite sport – and let him teach you a technique or two. Think tennis, golf, go-kart racing! Get Fancy Get all dolled up and pick a hotel lobby bar to meet at. Then book a table at a fancy restaurant you wouldn’t normally try, and end the night at a jazz or comedy club. Sushi Night When all else fails, head to your best local sushi spot. Everyone can find something they like at a sushi joint plus it’s a very shareable food. Sit back, relax, maybe order a sake, and enjoy! Channel Your Inner Picasso Head to the closest art store and pick up paint, brushes and canvases. Pick a theme – or throw any boundaries out the window and just paint whatever your heart desires! See where the wind blows ya! Take A Class A cooking class, a wine tasting, an olive oil sampling, or a cheese pairing class are all perfect (and yummy) ways to switch up your typical date night. Couples Massage T and I love to go to this hole in the wall place in West Village for cheap 1 hour massages. I think it’s legit $40 for an hour!!! It’s such a nice treat and way to unwind together.

Outside the Louvre

Thomas and I celebrated my birthday in Paris last month and it was truly special to be there around Christmas. December in Paris really is next level…there are lights everywhere, every store front is decorated to the nines, and you can just feel the Christmas cheer/excitement. I would 100% recommend visiting Paris in December – it’s so festive and romantic! We stayed warm by popping in and out of cute cafes, bakeries, hotel lobbies, and museums. We ate at Hotel Costes (my favorite spot in Paris), about 3 times haha. I could not resist the mushroom pasta and the martinis! Oh and their bread and butter is TO DIE FOR. Despite visiting Paris several times, I’m embarrassed to admit I had never been to the Louvre museum! The lines always scared me away. Thomas insisted that we go, and I am SO glad that he did – it was magnificent. And best of all, if you buy tickets in advance, you can go through a special line and skip the madness! I wore this gorgeous faux fur coat with my favorite Wolford turtleneck bodysuit for the day. I paired it with a vintage scarf (also love this one and this one) I picked up at a consignment store years ago and couldn’t decide whether or not I liked it on for the pictures LOL. Which look do you prefer – with or without?! Be sure to check my Paris Travel App and City Guides for more of my go-to spots!
