Spring Set

Ahhhh spring – I see you! The sun is out, the birds are chirping, and the air is buzzing with excitement for the new season! I always get really energized during this time of year. As we transition into a new season, I’m inspired to clean out my closet and update it with beautiful, light pieces that I can wear well into summer. Nordstrom Designer Collections Nordstrom is always the first place I go when it comes to shopping. They have everything from affordable basics to elevated designer pieces. My wardrobe is in a really good place right now in terms of basics. I’ve spent years building it out so that everything fits right, feels right and lasts! I always like to treat myself to a few special designer pieces each season, and found some really dreamy pieces in Nordstrom’s Designer Collections section! A few designers that always stand out to me are Zimmermann, Max Mara, Khaite, Johanna Ortiz, Aquazzura, and Isabel Marant. Zimmermann blouse Zimmermann has been one of my favorite brands forever, and I end up keeping their pieces year after year. When I saw this white silk blouse online, I knew I had to have it! There are still a few sizes left, but hurry because it will sell out soon! For reference I always wear a size 1 in their clothing (it fits like a size small or 2 despite what the sizing chart says!) A few other Zimmermann pieces I’m loving are these shorts, this dress and this top. Max Mara silk skirt A silk midi skirt is one of my most worn items throughout the year. I love wearing it with a bodysuit, crisp white button down, chunky knit sweater, or turtleneck. I paired this gorgeous silk Max Mara skirt with my white blouse. The skirt really exudes soft minimalism which is a huge trend for this upcoming season! Spring Wishlist A few other goodies I have my eye on are this Johanna Ortiz white linen embroidered dress which will be perfect for warm spring/summer days. I also love this knit Khaite bodysuit, this elegant cashmere collared sweater, this classic Max Mara taupe coat, these white linen pants, these cool distressed jeans, and these Aquazzura heels – SWOON! Zimmermann blouse (also love this one and this one)Max Mara skirt (also love this one and this one)Stuart Weitzman heels (similar)

Classic Everyday Pieces

I often get asked about what my wardrobe essentials are.  They are things like a great pair of white skinny jeans, a pair of light wash jeans, the perfect fitting white T, a white button down, and a chambray shirt… They are pieces that can easily be mixed and matched to create an endless amount of classic outfits. Classic Everyday PiecesFree AssemblyThe Free Assembly collection at Walmart Fashion legit has all of the classic everyday pieces you want and need, plus they’re all so reasonably priced!  From that perfect fitting white T (seriously this one is the best – it’s a creamy white and the cut is SO good), to this chic cream cardigan with tortoise buttons, and this crisp white button down – the collection is full of effortless, classic pieces.  Plus I love that the brand is committed to sustainability. Here are the stand out pieces from my most recent order… The Perfect T-ShirtI ordered this T-shirt in both the creamy white and grey – and LOVE both.  It’s loose, but not overly boxy (I took my normal size) and drapes beautifully.  The best part is, it’s $12 and comes in several other neutral colors. Lightweight Spring JacketThis soft creamy white canvas jacket is stunning in person and will be my go-to lightweight jacket to throw over sundresses and tanks in the spring.  It’s true to size, and the tortoise buttons really elevate the overall look.  I can see myself wearing it around town or even to a casual dinner with sneakers or sandals. Cream CardiganI’ve been looking for the perfect creamy knit cardigan for a while, and this one really wow’d me.  It’s only $28.  My normal size was ideal for this style, and I can see myself wearing it over a simple slip dress, a silky tank, or alone with jeans. White Button DownYou can never have too many white button downs in your closet, and this one will be a staple year round.  It’s not too sheer so you don’t need to wear anything underneath, isn’t overly long so it can be worn tucked out, and has a slimmer fit so it’s really flattering on!  I have a feeling this will sell out in the white color quickly. So definitely snap up your size while you can! Shop more of my favorite classic pieces from the Free Assembly collection at Walmart Fashion below – including this great chunky knit crewneck sweater, these white denim shorts, these light wash straight leg jeans, and this simple long sleeve t which is great for throwing on before or after a workout. Winter Layers in Paris

I was looking through old photos and realized I never posted this set from my birthday trip to Paris last winter. My first thought was, WOW what I would give to wander the streets of Paris right now, and then I thought, gosh, when will we ever be able to travel internationally again?! I can tell you one thing, I will never take any of it for granted again! Winter Layers in ParisGrey Winter CoatI’ve had this beautiful Soia+Kyo coat (another option) for several years now, and it’s one I never plan on giving away. It’s classic and timeless, and the best part is the collar is removable so you can wear it in the fall and winter. I love pairing it with an all black outfit, but it also looks stunning with a grey + camel look, or even head to toe creamy white look. You can see it styled other ways here and here. Over the knee bootsThese Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots have been a staple in my wardrobe for almost a decade! They’re my favorite OTK boot style, and have held up after all of these years. They’re incredibly warm, sleek and comfortable, which makes them an ideal shoe to walk around a city in for hours and hours. I love them so much I own them in 2 other colors. Chanel Flap BagI often get asked what my absolute favorite bag is or what I suggest as the one designer bag you should have in your closet…and it’s hands down my classic Chanel Flap bag. This is the medium size in black, with caviar leather. I saved up my nannying $ in college and bought it for myself for my 21st birthday. It was a huge splurge at the time, but it’s held up beautifully (it still looks brand new 11 years later), and also appreciated in value (I think it’s almost doubled in price!) There are a ton of great secondhand stores you can look at if you don’t want to buy it new. I’ve bought designer bags from Rebag in the past, and been really happy with them!

Snow Day

We’ve had one big snowfall this winter and I’m hoping for at least one more because it’s so gorgeous! A question I get a lot is, how do you dress for the cold, but still look cute?! This is something I’ve had to master over the years from living in NYC and now CT. The best advice I can give you is to invest in quality pieces made of warm material like wool and cashmere, and lots of neutrals so you can mix and match everything! Snow Day OutfitCamel CoatGerard Darel sent me this stunning camel coat a few weeks ago and it’s by far my favorite everyday camel coat. It’s such a rich tan color, fits perfectly (runs TTS) and it’s on sale! I love that it has a belt that cinches the waist and really locks in the heat! I linked a few other camel coats I’m loving like this one, this one and this one. Snow BootsThese Sperry snow boots are the BEST and I’ve been wearing these as my go-to winter boot for years. They’re thick and warm, but easy to walk in (that’s key), and not insanely heavy. They have a nice lining and are relatively sleek in terms of snow boot standards. Dog CoatsThis little dog coat is adorable isn’t it?! I picked it up at a store in town, but found it online here. It keeps Charlie warm for our daily walks. He’s wearing an XS and weighs about 12 lbs for reference :) Shop my snow day friendly outfit below!
