Lightweight Trench + White Denim

These white denim jeans have been on repeat as of late.  While I love a good blue jean, there’s something so classic about a crisp white jean – especially in the winter paired with a trench coat.  You may remember some of my past winter outfits with white denim – this one in particular will always be an all time favorite!  White just pops so nicely against a sea of dark winter clothing.  These skinny high waisted L’Agence jeans have the right amount of stretch, and are one of the few pairs of flattering white denim I’ve found. I paired my white jeans with these ultra comfy Rag & Bone booties that I’ve had for going on 6-7+ years at this point!  I’ve never even had to get them re-soled!  I can walk around the city in them for hours and they have held up through tons of horrible weather.  These black booties are also a great alternative – although I can’t speak to the quality since I’ve never worn them, but the price point is appealing! Lightweight TrenchIt’s starting to get to that point where we can all put away our thick coats and reach for lighter trenches.  This J.Ing one is almost sold out, but this L’Academie one is even cuter in my opinion!  J.Ing is a relatively new-to-me clothing brand that has a really strong outerwear selection at a super affordable price point.  I linked to a few other trenches I’m loving for this season below; like this Club Monaco one, this Anine Bing one, and this Badgley Mischka one. I always get a ton of questions about these sunnies – and sadly they’re no longer available from Sonix, BUT this pair is similar and under $100.  Fingers crossed Sonix brings the ones I have back in stock!!!  I’m dying for a lighter pair – how chic would they be in tortoise?  I also love these black + gold sunglasses. Shop my entire look below – including tons of cozy cream sweaters (like this one!) that will be perfect for the upcoming spring transition!

Signs of Spring in Soho

Happy Monday! It’s almost mid March – how is that even possible?  Where does time go?!  I don’t know about you, but I’m sooooo ready for spring.  Open toed shoes, light silk blazers, lace camis, and sundresses – yes please. This grey coat has been the perfect spring transition piece. It’s lightweight, but still warm, and roomy enough to layer underneath!  I love the length – and have my eye on a few other extra long coats that are an even lighter material for the coming months.  How gorgeous is this trench?  And this one in a stunning tawny brown color? I’m wearing my go-to L’Agence distressed jeans (these are a great option for under $100), and my cozy cashmere Nili Lotan sweater.  I love a good cashmere sweater and often score great ones on sale at Nordstrom Rack.  I am eyeing this hoodie that comes in several different colors – such a nice casual piece!  Speaking of casual pieces, I always get asked about what my favorite low key/hang around the house clothing items are.  Lately I’ve been LIVING in these Cuyana sweatpants.  They’re made of the softest, stretchiest material and they look nice enough to wear out in public, but are comfy enough to sleep in (which is a rare combo!) I love the idea of pairing a tapered sweatpant with a bodysuit, bomber/leather style jacket and heel for an unconventional date night/going out look too!  You can’t go wrong with a classic black pump and these are such a beautiful pair for under $100. Is it feeling like spring where you are?!Or still freezing?  Here’s hoping it starts warming up so we can all bust out our pretty spring pieces soon!

Where To Eat In LA

I’ve lived in LA for 2 years now, and have been fortunate enough to try a wide variety of restaurants during this time.  I LOVE discovering new spots and dishes and make an effort to visit a new place weekly.  I don’t need a restaurant to be fancy or sceney to enjoy it – of course it’s nice when a spot has great ambiance – but the food quality and taste is KEY for me.  I’m SO excited to go more in depth here on the blog, and share the best restaurants in LA with you.  Remember you can always find my favorite restaurants in LA and more on my Travel App, which is free to download in the App store when you search “With Love From Kat.”  Without further ado… Where To Eat In Los AngelesElephanteThis place knocks it out of the park for me.  The decor is bohemian chic and you feel as if you’ve been transported to Tulum.  It’s one of the few rooftop restaurants in LA, let alone Santa Monica and has a nice view of the ocean from the balcony.  The food is out of this world incredible – whatever you do – do not leave without ordering the eggplant naan and a pizza.  The cocktails are so refreshing and innovative.  And the restaurant layout/vibe is super fun for both large parties/groups and couples.  It’s peaceful at lunch (they do a great prix fixed menu option) and it’s lively on the weekends.  Make reservations and enjoy! Nobu MalibuThis spot is stunning for lunch or dinner.  Get a table outside at sunset and enjoy the ocean view and freshest sushi.  Reservations are a must!  If there’s a long wait, grab a drink at Malibu Farm down the road. GjelinaThis has been one of the top restaurants in LA for years for a reason.  It’s right on Abbot Kinney and has an understated, dark NYC vibe.  The food is delicious – their pizzas are my favorite, and I love ordering the crispy sunchokes to start with.  The food is New American and the menu has just the right mix of veggies + rich/decadent food.  Reservations are a must for dinner and book up weeks in advance sometimes.  I don’t love their brunch/lunch menu as much so go for dinner if you can! SuperbaTwo words; garlic bread.  Holy cow, they have the best crispy, thick sourdough bread I’ve ever had.  It comes in a HUGE square piece the size of your hand with a giant butcher’s knife stuck through it and a side of garlic butter to smear on top.  It’s insane.  Their fish dishes are super yummy, and the large/open layout of the restaurant is beautiful and relaxing.  Take some baked goods home with you if you go during the day!  Their brunch is just as good as their dinner. ForageThis cute little cafe in Silver Lake is the perfect spot to grab lunch and stroll along the Main street.  Silver Lake has tons of darling shops and cafes so it’s a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon.  I love getting their salmon bowl! Jon & Vinny’sIf you love Italian food, you’ll be obsessed with this spot.  Authentic pizza and pasta in a cool, casual setting.  It’s a celeb favorite.  They just opened one in Brentwood, but I still prefer the West Hollywood location. Plant Food and WineWhether you’re vegan or not, this spot will wow you.  Matthew Kenney’s vegan restaurant in Venice on Abbot Kinney does not disappoint.  Step inside this space and into the magical garden which is full of gorgeous trees and twinkly lights.  The kelp noodles and dessert are top notch. The Rose VeniceAnother Venice restaurant – Rose is ideal for a big group of friends and my favorite time to go is at night.  Ask for the cacio e pepe which isn’t on the menu.  It’s what they’re famous for!  This spot is where I send any friends visiting Venice for the first time – you can’t go wrong here! The IvyIf you want a fabulous ladies lunch with an over-the-top girlie ambiance and giant salads – head to The Ivy.  They have two locations which are both equally fun, but if you want to people watch head to the one on Robertson. The Polo LoungeLocated at the Beverly Hills hotel, the Polo Lounge is iconic and a really fun spot to have lunch at if you’re visiting.  Sit back in the green and white striped booths and look out at the pool on a sunny day. SugarfishYou’ve probably seen or heard of Sugarfish from their signature sushi boxes.  The quality of the sushi is unreal and it’s always worth the 45+ minute wait.  They have multiple locations all over LA and the setting is casual.  I personally prefer ordering take out and enjoying it at home! CatchThis is a sceney restaurant that actually has pretty darn good food.  I was unsure of whether or not this place would be worth going to, but I have to say my girlfriends and I really enjoyed it on a weekend night!  Yummy food, fun atmosphere and central location to all of the bars/clubs. Cafe HabanaI love this spot for a chill post hike brunch on a Saturday or Sunday.  The restaurant is located in the Malibu Country Mart and is super dog friendly – the manager literally feeds everyone’s dog ham – it’s the cutest thing.  They have delicious salads and generous portions of chips + guac.  It’s a no frills spot that always makes me feel comfortable and welcome. Taverna TonyDavid Beckham and many other celebs love this spot for good reason.  The Greek food is some of the best I’ve ever had – but go hungry – the portions are GINORMOUS.  It’s a very family friendly restaurant and is also located in the Malibu Country Mart. Cecconi’sHead to Cecconi’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  It’s right in the heart of West Hollywood.  The crowd and decor are ultra glamorous. FarmShopThis cute gourmet restaurant, bakery and market is located in the Brentwood Country Mart.  I love spending a few hours here strolling around all of the cute shops (Sugar Paper, Space NK, and Goop to name a few) and then having a lovely lunch at FarmShop. RepubliqueIf you’re a breakfast/brunch person then you must go to Republique.  The waffles are what they’re famous for – and basically all of the pastries.  The decor is super insta-worthy and the portions are overly generous! Malibu FarmDrive out to Malibu and enjoy lunch or dinner at the Farm.  The views from the Pier are gorgeous and the food is organic and local – you will love it! FelixAnother restaurant on Abbot Kinney, this Italian spot is hard to get a reservation at for a reason.  It feels like a NYC restaurant and the little bar when you first walk in is the perfect spot to wait for your table.  Their pasta is AMAZE. CapoThis is another Italian spot that is old school, dark, swanky and romantic.  Enjoy dinner by candlelight, and be prepared to lose track of time with a great bottle of wine and course after course. DelilahIf you’re looking for a late night, rowdy-chic dinner spot head to Delilah.  Go with a group and settle in one of their plush booths and eat, drink and be merry! ScopaCan you tell I have an obsession with Italian food?!  This spot is in Venice, and amazing for date night.  I love that they have gluten free pasta options and a hidden speakeasy bar that you can go to after you’re done with your meal! For more of my favorite restaurants in LA – be sure to download my app, and look out for my next LA post which will feature my favorite coffee shops!  Have you been to any of these restaurants?  What’s your favorite spot in LA?  Do tell!

Parisian Balconies

Happy Monday! I had another productive weekend tying up loose ends, organizing, and cleaning out my closet!  I listed tons of dresses, coats, and shoes for sale here on my Poshmark should you be interested :)  I’ll be selling a bunch of my furniture in the coming weeks, and announcing it only to email subscribers so you can get on the list here!  The apartment I rented in Paris last month was soooo dreamy and had the BEST balcony with views of the Eiffel Tower.  I got a ton of inspo from the way they decorated the apartment – with a mix of vintage and more modern/retro pieces.  It definitely got the wheels churning for me! One thing I love about Paris is how hypnotizing it is.It’s just so romantic…from the intricate architecture to the faint smell of fresh bread and croissants wafting down the street… all of the elements just transport you into this dream like state.  You can’t help but move a little slower, soaking in your surroundings with a grin on your face the entire time.  It really does have such a nice mix of hustle/bustle + activity, and complete serenity + solitude.  There are so many hidden pockets throughout the city to get lost in! It warmed up a bit on our last day in the city, so I wore one of my favorite blazers; this red one with gold buttons from Laveer.  It comes in black which is also to-die-for, and completely makes an entire outfit.  It’s such good quality and the fit is just right.  I paired it with these coated denim jeans from L’Agence (shocker), and my trusty Wolford turtleneck that hopefully some of you were able to snag during the Shopbop sale! When it comes to colorful clothes, the only pop of color you’ll find me sporting in the fall or winter is pretty much red.  I have always loved wearing red.  It’s a powerful color that makes a statement.  It’s equally feminine and masculine, and looks good on everyone.  Every once in a while, I’ll veer from my normal nude nails and wear the perfect shade of red nail polish; OPI “The Thrill of Brazil.”  It’s less orangey than the popular “Big Apple Red” and more of a true, deep red.  It’s been my go-to shade of red polish for years and looks gorgeous when you’re wearing a predominantly neutral outfit.  Red nails with all black is beyond chic!
