Snow Day

We’ve had one big snowfall this winter and I’m hoping for at least one more because it’s so gorgeous! A question I get a lot is, how do you dress for the cold, but still look cute?! This is something I’ve had to master over the years from living in NYC and now CT. The best advice I can give you is to invest in quality pieces made of warm material like wool and cashmere, and lots of neutrals so you can mix and match everything! Snow Day OutfitCamel CoatGerard Darel sent me this stunning camel coat a few weeks ago and it’s by far my favorite everyday camel coat. It’s such a rich tan color, fits perfectly (runs TTS) and it’s on sale! I love that it has a belt that cinches the waist and really locks in the heat! I linked a few other camel coats I’m loving like this one, this one and this one. Snow BootsThese Sperry snow boots are the BEST and I’ve been wearing these as my go-to winter boot for years. They’re thick and warm, but easy to walk in (that’s key), and not insanely heavy. They have a nice lining and are relatively sleek in terms of snow boot standards. Dog CoatsThis little dog coat is adorable isn’t it?! I picked it up at a store in town, but found it online here. It keeps Charlie warm for our daily walks. He’s wearing an XS and weighs about 12 lbs for reference :) Shop my snow day friendly outfit below!

Our Engagement

I am so excited to share that Thomas and I got engaged in Miami in early November! It’s been such a special time for both of us! With the holiday craziness I didn’t get a chance to post about our engagement on here. I wanted to share a few engagement details and photos with you! The Engagement Thomas flew me to Miami the first weekend of November. We checked into my favorite hotel; Soho Beach House. It was soooo nice to have a change of scenery and stick our toes in the sand. We relaxed the first day and ordered room service – their food is the absolute BEST. The second day is a bit of a blur now haha… we hung by the pool, and then that evening right before dinner, Thomas led me to the beach where he proposed! He had my favorite photographer hiding behind a beach stand capturing our special moment. I was in shock, and couldn’t stop smiling. Having this set of photos to capture that joy right during and after the proposal is truly priceless! After the proposal we took it all in, and then got ready for dinner at my favorite restaurant; Casa Tua. Engagement Outfit Details I packed a ton of white outfits for our weekend, knowing that something was up if we were flying to Miami on a whim! We had talked about a ring design together months prior, so luckily he knew exactly what shape and style I liked. This is something I suggest all couples discuss beforehand because you wear your engagement ring everyday and it’s a huge investment, so you want to be absolutely in love with it! I showed him photos of rings I loved (Amal Clooney’s was my #1 inspo) and he had it made from there. The style I ended up going with was an emerald cut diamond with tapered baguettes on each side. Classic and timeless! The outfit I wore was a two piece set I had sitting in my closet for years from Zimmermann. All of their pieces are special, intricate and feminine. While the exact outfit I’m wearing has since sold out, I’ve linked similar options below! Engagement Photos Our photographer, Bailey Ann, was so sweet and made us feel so comfortable. She snapped a ton of photos of us just being natural and elated. She is a genius when it comes to capturing those beautiful, in-between, organic moments! I was smiling ear to ear and in shock/high on adrenaline the entire time. Minutes before Thomas proposed, a hurricane was actually moving in on us, so he only had a small window (about 20 minutes) until it started to downpour! I love the moodiness and clouds that are behind us in these photos! The impending hurricane really made the pictures that much more gorgeous and ironically enough, the lighting was perfect (not too bright/not too dark.) Once it started raining, we ran up to our room and danced on the balcony and bed. My best friend had martinis sent up to our room waiting for us and Thomas had a huge bouquet of white roses on the nightstand. I’m so excited about this next chapter and feel so lucky that I get to be with my soulmate! Thank you so much for your well wishes, love and excitement – we are truly over the moon! A Classic Sweater Dress

I’ve been looking for the perfect sweater dress for a while, and I finally found it!!! Seriously though, I am verrrry particular about sweater dresses. The fabric can’t be too sheer or thin, and it also can’t be super thick or bulky. It has to lay comfortably against my frame, and also look cute with over the knee boots. This one fits the bill and is under $15! A Classic Sweater DressA classic sweater dress can be styled a zillion different ways! This one from Walmart’s fashion section comes in several colors; taupe, black, gray, blue, burgundy. It runs a bit big, so you can absolutely size down (or just throw it in the dryer and shrink it a bit!) You can wear it with over the knee boots, or slippers around the house. You can throw on a cool houndstooth coat over it for a tailored look, or a teddy coat for a cozy vibe. And you can even pair it with a faux fur vest or leather jacket. My girlfriend just bought this leopard coat and said it is amazingggg in person – it would look beautiful with a black sweater dress! Cozy Winter StaplesIf you’re looking for a casual cowl neck sweater, you can’t go wrong this one from Time and Tru. I own several pieces from the Time and Tru collection at Walmart and am constantly impressed. You may remember this simple draped cardigan I wear all the time from there! If you’re looking for a good winter bootie, I wore these black faux snakeskin ones all winter. What’s nice is I didn’t have to worry about them getting wet or snowed on, and for how high the heel is, they’re actually really easy to walk in! I just saw these light brown knee high boots pop up at the Scoop collection at Walmart and am thinking of ordering them next! Shop my entire look below! And if you’re in the market for cute Christmas PJs or accessories be sure to check out their selection here!
