Houndstooth Coat

These photos are from last fall in NYC, but I never got around to sharing the full outfit details! This coat is beyond timeless – you can’t go wrong with houndstooth for fall. I mixed the houndstooth print with all black and brown pieces. I loveeee the combo of black + brown together – it’s often an overlooked combination! Houndstooth Coats For FallA subtle houndstooth print coat is chic and effortless for fall. This one from Abercrombie is classic and under $250. Mango also has a ton of great houndstooth print coats like this one, this one and this one. Not to mention, their coat selection in general is ON POINT this season – can we talk about this one?! Suede BootsI picked up these Sergio Rossi brown suede boots in Paris years ago, and they’ve been such a versatile staple piece in my fall wardrobe. This pair from J.Crew is almost identical. If you’re worried about taking care of the suede, this leather pair is really similar. Leather SkirtsThis skirt is an oldie but a goodie. I love having a few leather skirts on rotation in my closet. I have a short version, a pencil skirt, and a wrap pencil skirt version. This short faux leather skirt for under $50 is a steal! If skirts aren’t your favorite, then a cool vegan leather trouser is a great option.

Best Leather Jackets

A leather jacket is one of my wardrobe essentials. I rarely travel without one because it always acts as the perfect layering piece. I’ve owned a fair share of leather jackets over the years, and wanted to share which ones I still reach for and love. Best Leather JacketsBanana Republic Leather JacketI wore a Banana Republic leather moto jacket about 6 years ago when I was hosting an event for them at their Soho store, and it’s been my favorite ever since. It’s the softest, most buttery leather, and the cool moto belt detail instantly makes any outfit better. 9 out of 10 times this is the jacket I reach for. While they no longer make the same style with the moto belt, they make this one minus the belt. This AllSaints one and this AQUA one are nearly identical! Iro Leather JacketThis is another jacket I’ve had for 6+ years that still looks brand new. The leather is gorgeous…you definitely get what you pay for! I will say, that if you’re willing to splurge on it, you will not be disappointed. I have it in black, mustard yellow, and beige (this is a great dupe.) They’re all super versatile and cut in the most flattering way. Their jackets are more slim fit, but the leather does have some stretch. I typically wear a size small or 2, and in Iro I like their jackets in a size 36 or 38. Joie Leather JacketI’ve had this Joie jacket for almost a decade and it’s a classic. The leather and cut is a bit stiffer (but not stiff!) then my other 2 leather jackets, but it has a really pretty sheen to it. This is a great style for someone who is a bit more feminine. It looks perfect with a floral dress, or jeans and a T. Affordable Leather JacketsYou don’t really need more than 3 good leather jackets. I like having 2 black leather jackets to rotate, and 1-2 neutral leather jackets. The neutral leather jackets are ideal to wear in the fall and spring. I am really impressed with this under $100 BLANKNYC faux leather jacket. I’ve seen it in stores and tried it on – and it looks like it could be well over $500. I love the gold details – it really makes it look luxe. They typically restock sizes throughout the season, so be sure to keep checking back! This AllSaints leather jacket is a great Iro dupe for a fraction of the price. I love the buttery leather and subtle details. OBSESSED with it in this tan color which is currently 20% off! For Abercrombie, this leather jacket may seem a bit pricey, but I’m impressed with their leather quality. And this vegan leather trench from them is to die for!

Lightweight Fall Jackets

The air is getting crisp and cool here in Connecticut so I’ve been slowly swapping out my summer wardrobe for my fall one. I’m pulling out all of my lightweight coats, trenches, leather jackets, blazers and bomber jackets to layer over dresses and tops. Fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons to dress for! I wanted to share the lightweight fall jackets I’ve worn over the years, as well as a few new ones I have my eye on. Lightweight Fall JacketsTrench CoatsWhen it comes to lightweight jackets in the fall, the first kind that comes to mind is a trench coat. I’ve had the classic Burberry Kensington trench for years. While I do love it, it’s extremely pricey and stiff which has made me wear it less and less over the years. I’ve been reaching for this draped Theory trench season after season, and can’t recommend it enough. FYI it runs big, so size down. It’s available in tan, black and cream. This is an almost identical option with more sizes in stock! A few other draped trenches I’m coveting are this olive green one, this white one and this chic black one. !function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? 'http' : 'https'; if(!d.getElementById(id)) { e = d.createElement(s); e.id = id; e.src = p + '://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js'; d.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.__stp === 'object') if(d.readyState === 'complete') { window.__stp.init(); } }(document, 'script', 'shopthepost-script'); BlazersYou know I love a good blazer. I recently started investing in Veronica Beard blazers and all I can say is WOW. Probably my favorite blazer brand ever. The quality is excellent, the material is beautiful and you can tell they take a lot of time when it comes to creating the silhouette. Two other brands I love for quality blazers are L’Agence and ALC. In terms of affordable, more casual blazers – you can’t go wrong with Mango or Topshop. !function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? 'http' : 'https'; if(!d.getElementById(id)) { e = d.createElement(s); e.id = id; e.src = p + '://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js'; d.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.__stp === 'object') if(d.readyState === 'complete') { window.__stp.init(); } }(document, 'script', 'shopthepost-script'); Bomber/Military JacketsThis Banana Republic green jacket from last year is my most worn lightweight jacket. It’s soooooo cute on. I wear it with jeans, a bodysuit and sneakers or booties throughout the year. Banana no longer makes it, but I found this one which is similar and looks really cozy. Other casual green jackets I love; this one, this one, this one and this one. !function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? 'http' : 'https'; if(!d.getElementById(id)) { e = d.createElement(s); e.id = id; e.src = p + '://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js'; d.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.__stp === 'object') if(d.readyState === 'complete') { window.__stp.init(); } }(document, 'script', 'shopthepost-script'); Leather JacketsMy most worn leather jacket is 6 years old from Banana Republic. They make a similar version which is still available here. I also really love this leather jacket which looks closer to the one I have. This is a great option for under $100 which I’ve seen in stores. If you’re willing to splurge, Iro makes the softest, most buttery leather jackets. I love it in this mustard color. !function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? 'http' : 'https'; if(!d.getElementById(id)) { e = d.createElement(s); e.id = id; e.src = p + '://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js'; d.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.__stp === 'object') if(d.readyState === 'complete') { window.__stp.init(); } }(document, 'script', 'shopthepost-script'); Lightweight CoatsThe best lightweight coats tends to sell out fast, so I’m sharing a few that I’ve seen fully stocked here… You can never go wrong with a Theory coat. They last for years and look so amazing on. Keep in mind that you’ll need to size down for all of their coats though. This rich camel cashmere coat is going to go FAST, I just ordered mine! I always get so many compliments on this Mackage coat – it runs big as well. I haven’t tried this camel coat on, but love the look. Same goes for this camel one, and this camel one! !function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? 'http' : 'https'; if(!d.getElementById(id)) { e = d.createElement(s); e.id = id; e.src = p + '://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js'; d.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.__stp === 'object') if(d.readyState === 'complete') { window.__stp.init(); } }(document, 'script', 'shopthepost-script'); Casual JacketsLast, but not least, some cute + casual jackets for running around town or throwing on for any occasion… In terms of fleece zip ups, how cute is this one? And this one is under $15. OBSESSED with this leather + cream sherpa jacket. This Isabel Marant printed sweater is really fun. !function(d,s,id){ var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? 'http' : 'https'; if(!d.getElementById(id)) { e = d.createElement(s); e.id = id; e.src = p + '://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js'; d.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.__stp === 'object') if(d.readyState === 'complete') { window.__stp.init(); } }(document, 'script', 'shopthepost-script'); Shop more of my favorite lightweight jackets for fall below!

Best Fall Boots

When I asked you on Stories what blog post topics you wanted me to cover next, the majority of you said all things FALL (outfits, decor, recipes!) Today I am going to start with fall outfits with a specific focus on fall footwear. Best Fall Boots Fall footwear is the best, isn’t it?! Suede booties, over the knee boots, moto boots – yes please! My favorite fall shoes are; these Joie booties (so comfortable, I own them in 2 colors), these Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots (legit best boots ever – the brown is on MAJ sale here), PS this is the heeled version of the over the knee boots, a pair of white leather booties, and these Rag & Bone Newbury booties (which have held up for 10 years after I resoled them!!!) Fall Boot Wish List A few boots I have my eye on for this fall are these J.Crew suede over the knee boots in black and brown, these brown leather heeled boots, these super affordable tan moto boots, and these waterproof moto rain boots (love that they don’t look like a clunky rain boot.) I do own the classic Hunter rain boots, but TBH I’ve only worn them 3 times in the last decade. They’re just wayyyy too clunky and heavy for me. I even have the fleece insert for winter, but they’re still not warm enough, so I always just wear my Sperry insulated duck shoes. Least Worn Pair of Fall Boots My least worn pair of fall shoes are surprisingly these Isabel Marant booties. They’re gorgeous and look great on all of the models, but for some reason, I just haven’t reached for them in years. They run VERY narrow (and I have wide feet) so I haven’t had a chance to break them in, but I am hoping to really commit and try this season. I feel like they would look great with a cropped skinny jean. Originally, I had wanted to style them with a flowy floral Zimmermann type of dress, but they just hit at the wrong part of my ankle so they really don’t elongate/flatter unless you’re over 5’8″. Anyways, TBD if I end up finally wearing them – will keep you posted! Most Worn Pair of Fall Boots If I had to pick one pair of shoes to invest in for the fall, they would be these brown suede Joie booties. They do have a heel, but they’re extremely comfortable and SO flattering on. They’re a great date night shoe because they can be dressed up. They look just as good with dresses as they do with jeans. 100% a must in my book! FYI for all outfit details, please check my fall outfit section here where you will find all brands linked!
