A Winter Night in December

Venice, CA

I remember experimenting SO much with my winter style when I first moved to NYC.  I figured out what looked “cute”, what actually kept me warm, and basically what was practical or not to wear in freezing cold temps! Can you stay warm while looking fab at the same time? The answer is a big YES!  After plenty of trial and error – I realized the importance of material (wool, cashmere, shearling, leather) and layers!  I splurged on a gorgeous shearling coat for my birthday a few days ago and knew it would be the perfect coat to wear not only on chilly LA date nights (I wore it to Nobu last night!) but also for upcoming trips to NYC and Europe.  I’m already envisioning myself gallivanting through Paris in it haha!  Bloomingdales has SO many amazing shearling coats right now… I just picked up this Mother one which you may have seen on instastory and am loving this one and this one.  Pair a great shearling with lived in boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, or a well made black trouser like these from Elie Tahari.  What I love about these fitted black trousers is that they’re a bit dresser than a black skinny jean and you can wear this look from the office (with a blazer or cardigan) straight out to drinks or a holiday party.  You can also tuck these trousers into boots (a major plus), and they’re made without bulky seams so they’re chic and sleek.  I love that they’re a lower rise which gives them that “cool” factor that I want if I’m going out for the night ;)  Bloomingdales carries such an amazing selection of Elie Tahari tailored pieces (like this draped grey coat that just went on sale and this elegant cut out top.)  I’ll be taking this beautiful cream blouse to San Francisco tomorrow for a little birthday getaway trip!
