Hi from Montauk! I just wrapped a holiday shoot with Audi and am excited to get back to the city to celebrate my 28th birthday! Birthdays are such a wonderful excuse to sleep in, indulge in your favorite treats, slip on a fun party dress, dance the night away with your best friends, and drink too much champagne ;) They’re also a nice time to stop, and reflect on the past year. Since my birthday falls so close to the New Year, I tend to be in major reflective mode around this time. 27 proved to be quite the transitional year for me… I made an effort to push myself out of my comfort zone and break away from certain patterns, routines and molds, which quite honestly left me feeling a bit frustrated, uncertain, and lost at times. I faced my biggest fear head on (public speaking) – and agreed to speak at every engagement that was offered to me, I learned how to meditate, I went off the grid and did a yoga/surfing retreat with 30 strangers from around the world (and zip lined through the jungle while screaming at the top of my lungs), I pushed myself physically and committed to BBG (I’ll be doing a separate post on that soon!) I pulled away from certain relationships that were comfortable yet unhealthy and started investing into new and existing friendships. I did a ton of reading about love, life, health, took up boxing, tried golfing (failed miserably), also tried cooking (and almost burnt down my apartment), traveled to some incredibly foreign places, took on projects that expanded/challenged my creative horizons, and tried to embrace my imperfections and not be afraid of sharing the little quirks that make me unique. As Einstein once said, “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” But maybe I’ll let my sister stick to cooking! Enjoy your weekend and thank you for all of the birthday wishes!
