Best Hair Tools

I’m so excited to share my tried and true hair tools with you. These are my absolute holy grail hair products that I can’t live without!!! I rarely wear my hair straight and these tools are how I get a subtle beach-y wave in my long locks. Best Hair Tools T3 Curling Iron I upgraded to this curling wand a few years ago, and have never looked back. It is worth every penny! It heats up in under 1 minute – no joke, and I only have to wrap my hair around it for 10 seconds to get a long lasting curl. I don’t even use hairspray, and the curls last all day, and look really pretty and relaxed the next day too. With my previous curling iron – this was never the case and my curls would fall out throughout the day. Nordstrom carries several different sizes of the barrels. I have the clip-less 1″ barrel that attaches to this base. What’s great about this base is, you can use it with tons of different barrel sizes to suit your needs. If you have longer hair you could use a 1.25″ barrel, or if you prefer a clip barrel you can get any of these! T3 Hairdryer I rarely dry my hair, but when I do it’s with this T3 hairdryer. (It just sold out, but may restock soon – so be sure to check back! This is the auto sensor version.) It’s insanely lightweight, dries my hair quickly, and is compact + sleek. It’s the only dryer my hairstylist uses as well! If you’re willing to splurge a bit more, and have extremely thick hair, then I do recommend this Dyson hairdryer which is pricier, but really impressive in terms of drying time. Thomas actually uses this on his hair so it’s in his bathroom lol! Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo This is one of the best smelling scents EVER. It’s intoxicating! If I ever need a little extra boost in my hair I spray this perfumed dry shampoo. It makes it smell heavenly, and gives me that volume and texture I love. Oribe Hair Oil Never underestimate a hair oil! It is key for nourishing dry, split ends. This one has the same amazing scent as the dry shampoo and comes in this beautiful bottle. Just drop a dime size into your palm and run through your hair with a focus on the ends. This really helps keep my hair looking healthy between cuts. Oribe Heat Protectant Spray Heat protectant spray is a must. You have to protect your hair against heat every time you blow dry and curl it. Especially with the T3 iron since it gets hot! This spray comes out like a fine mist and I spritz it all over before I’m about to curl my hair, then I brush it through. The instructions say to spray on damp hair, but I typically just spray it on dry hair. Mason Pearson Hair Brush I’ve had this hair brush for 10 years! Yes 10 years. It lasts forever, and is what I credit to making my hair stay thick, healthy and full. The bristles are so gentle and I feel like it makes my hair extra shiny. It’s expensive for a hair brush, but when you think about how long it lasts and see the effects firsthand, you’ll understand why. Nordstrom Beauty You can get all of my favorite hair tools at Nordstrom here! They have everything your hair needs from curling irons, to blow dryers, scalp treatments (this one is great for volume at the roots), shampoo and more. They also just restocked the Dyson Airwrap, which I’ve been dying to get my hands on – have you tried it yet? Cozy Robes PS If you don’t already own a cozy robe, I love this one, this one and this one! Any of them would make the perfect Christmas gift.

5 Fall Beauty Products Under $50

Does anyone else get overly excited about switching up little things like their nail polish color in the fall?!  I LOVE rocking a deep, rich purple nail in the fall and winter.  I’ve been wearing this shade forever, and rarely stray from it in the colder months.  I wanted to share a few other fall beauty products that are currently in my rotation now that it’s October! Fall Beauty Under $50 OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Nail Polish Like I said, this nail polish is the BEST fall color.  It looks so luxe on, is super easy to apply, and is available in Walmart’s Beauty section.  I use this clear top coat, which just went on sale!  In the spring and summer I love wearing lighter colors like Bubble Bath and Funny Bunny. Image Skincare Lip Balm I am obsessed with this lip balm.  It’s clear, scent free, and feels like a smooth butter on your lips.  It gives you the prettiest sheen and is the most hydrating and nourishing lip balm I’ve ever tried.  I keep one on my desk, nightstand, in every one of my bags…I’m compulsive about having one near me haha.  It’s usually $22 but on Walmart Beauty it’s only $13 so I stock up! Gua Sha If you don’t already own a gua sha, trust me you need one.  It’s only $16 and you can get it next day delivery.  This little tool completely sculpts and depuffs your face.  Just put a face oil all over your jawline, forehead and cheeks and press the gua sha along your face.  I like to use a deep pressure to massage out any tension.  Within 3 minutes, I instantly can feel and see the tension release in my jaw.  It helps to really get the face oil to seep into your skin, and carve out your cheekbones.  It feels cold and refreshing under your eyes especially in the morning! L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara If you’re looking for an affordable mascara that really gives you long, voluminous lashes – this is it!  It’s under $10 for 2, yes 2 mascaras!  This was one of the first mascaras I ever tried, and I am still so impressed with it today.  There’s a reason it has over 2000+ positive reviews! Nars Dolce Vita Blush This Nars blush is a best seller because it’s seriously gorgeous on.  Dolce Vita is the perfect pink shade (in the photo online it looks more bronze, but it’s actually more pink in person.)  I love to wear a blush in the fall/winter to give my cheeks a subtle rosy glow. Have you tried any of these products?  Walmart Beauty has soooo many amazing beauty items, many of which ship right away!!!  So convenient, and a nice way to treat yourself this season! Also love this eye makeup remover (so gentle and comes in a cute travel size) and this epsom salt for soothing baths.

Summer Skincare Routine

With the severe change of weather in the summer – hello heat and humidity! – you really want to be mindful of what skincare products you’re using each season. For example, in the winter, I’ll use a thicker, heavier face cream, while in the summer I’ll use a lighter one because I don’t need it – and also, I break out from the combo of heat + a heavy cream. Today, I’m sharing which products I use during the summer! Summer Skincare Routine Exfoliator If you’ve been following me for a while, you know the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is one of my holy grail products. I’m obsessed and have been using it for almost 10 years now! It’s soooo gentle, but so effective. It’s a rice based powder that you pour into your hand (about 1/2 a teaspoon), then wet and rub together, to create a paste. You gently massage it all over your face (really get that nose area!) and wash off. I do this two times a week in the shower and it keeps my skin bright, smooth and even. It’s gentle enough to use everyday if needed! Moisturizer After you exfoliate and/or cleanse, apply this dreamy, sheer moisturizer. It’s called Active Moist and contains Silk Amino Acids which gives it the amazing texture. I like to apply it right after I get out of the shower, or splash my face with cold water in the morning, because it absorbs best when my skin is slightly damp. I bring it all the way down to my neck area as well. What’s great about this moisturizer is it’s ideal for summer – it’s so light and sheer. SPF I am VERY picky about my SPF. Most SPF makes me break out. The Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defense passes the test. It’s invisible just like the name says, weightless, and blends beautifully into your skin. I LOVE that it also protects against blue light that comes from our phones and computer screens! It’s packed with Green Tea Antioxidant so it feels really nourishing and is also great for sensitive skin. I apply this right over my moisturizer in the morning, and reapply as needed throughout the day. Don’t forget to get your neck too! Free Exfoliator! I’m so excited because for the next 24 hours only – Dermalogica is offering a FULL size of my favorite exfoliator, the Daily Microfoliant (a $59 value), for FREE when you spend $100 on Dermalogica.com. Simply use code: KATSUMMER at checkout. If you haven’t tried the Daily Microfoliant already, now is the perfect time. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Best of Beauty: May

It’s already the end of June and I realized I haven’t done a Best of Beauty for May roundup. Better late than never right?! I’ve been testing quite a few new products, and using some old favorites on repeat lately, so I wanted to share everything I’m loving. Goop Face Oil I’ve raved about this face oil before and have been using it a lot more now that I have a Gua Sha tool. I dab a few drops on each cheek and run the tool along it to help with jaw tension and puffiness. I love the texture and smell, plus it’s super nourishing. Gua Sha This is such a great tool for sculpting your face and de-puffing. It’s so easy to use – just run it along your jawline with face oil. I use it about 3-4 times a week. Skin Medica Eye Cream I’ve tested hundreds of eye creams and found about 5 that I actually like. This is one of them. The consistency is really nice (not too thin, not too thick) and it absorbs really fast. It brightens the skin under your eyes and really hydrates the fine lines. Honest Beauty Mascara I’ve been wanting to find a clean mascara for years and am beyond impressed with this one. At first I was annoyed that you have to use the primer before applying it, but it takes 2 seconds and really does add length to your lashes. This is pretty much the only mascara I use now. Iluminage Eye Mask If you’re looking for an eye mask, look no further. I’ve used this one for years and it’s so comfortable. It’s wider than most masks and also adjustable. Supergoop Glowscreen I LOVE this sunscreen. It’s super light, sheer, and has just the right amount of highlight/tinted moisturizer/SPF coverage. I wear this everyday now. Foot Spa Bath Thomas’ mom bought us this spa pedicure foot bath a few weeks ago and we’ve been using it a ton. Since I haven’t been able to get a pedicure in months, this really does the trick. So relaxing. Lancome Juicy Tube Remember Lancome juicy tubes?! I used to buy these religiously in high school! They just came back so I ordered a few….and I just LOVE the way they look on. They give your lips a super high shine and smell amazing.
