Our First Home

Our First HomeI’m so excited to share more about the home we bought in Fairfield County! We bought a charming modern farmhouse in the cutest town just an hour outside NYC. The second we walked into this house, we just knew it was “the one.” It instantly felt like home. The previous owners had decorated it impeccably, and picked beautiful fixtures throughout the home. The home buying process was stressful no doubt (will share more on that later along with tips!), but it was all worth it in the end. From NYC to CTWe loved living in NYC, but after a series of events (the last straw was our apartment building getting broken into by someone who had robbed the surrounding buildings multiple times), we made the decision to leave. This wasn’t an easy decision at all, since we both not only loved the city, but loved our apartment, our doormen, and our neighbors. Everyone’s experience in the city will be different based on their own circumstances. So I can only speak to and share what ours was like during this time. Ultimately, I feel that for our family, we made the right decision, and I’ve been so pleasantly surprised at how much I love it here. I say surprised, because I didn’t envision myself “moving to the ‘burbs” for many, many years. I love big cities and need a sense of culture/liveliness wherever I am. Luckily our neighborhood has a great downtown with a nice vibe/buzz to it (even during the pandemic.) While we aren’t sharing exactly what town we moved to for our privacy, I will say, you can’t go wrong with any of the towns in Fairfield County area – they’re all beautiful. I included a ton of my favorite shops, restaurants and sites in each town on my Travel App in case you’re ever interested in visiting. Modern FarmhouseIn the coming months I can’t wait to share more photos inside our home, fun DIY projects (I’ve gotten hooked on refurbishing estate sale finds), and our kitchen renovation which is hopefully happening this spring! Our home is new-ish, but doesn’t look or feel “too new” if you know what I mean? It still has a real sense of charm and coziness to it. For our kitchen reno, I’m swapping out the more traditional elements like the white cabinets and stainless steel appliances, for slightly more modern/unique elements like mushroom/taupe colored cabinets, gold hardware, a plaster hood, and cool veiny marble countertops. My design inspo for the process is Eye Swoon; her kitchen is to die for! And this black La Cornue oven is at the top of my wish list! Year of ChangeWhile 2020, was certainly a year of change for all of us, I’m personally really grateful and happy about where I’ve landed. I’m so looking forward to sharing more tidbits of our home and life here in Connecticut! A Classic Sweater Dress

I’ve been looking for the perfect sweater dress for a while, and I finally found it!!! Seriously though, I am verrrry particular about sweater dresses. The fabric can’t be too sheer or thin, and it also can’t be super thick or bulky. It has to lay comfortably against my frame, and also look cute with over the knee boots. This one fits the bill and is under $15! A Classic Sweater DressA classic sweater dress can be styled a zillion different ways! This one from Walmart’s fashion section comes in several colors; taupe, black, gray, blue, burgundy. It runs a bit big, so you can absolutely size down (or just throw it in the dryer and shrink it a bit!) You can wear it with over the knee boots, or slippers around the house. You can throw on a cool houndstooth coat over it for a tailored look, or a teddy coat for a cozy vibe. And you can even pair it with a faux fur vest or leather jacket. My girlfriend just bought this leopard coat and said it is amazingggg in person – it would look beautiful with a black sweater dress! Cozy Winter StaplesIf you’re looking for a casual cowl neck sweater, you can’t go wrong this one from Time and Tru. I own several pieces from the Time and Tru collection at Walmart and am constantly impressed. You may remember this simple draped cardigan I wear all the time from there! If you’re looking for a good winter bootie, I wore these black faux snakeskin ones all winter. What’s nice is I didn’t have to worry about them getting wet or snowed on, and for how high the heel is, they’re actually really easy to walk in! I just saw these light brown knee high boots pop up at the Scoop collection at Walmart and am thinking of ordering them next! Shop my entire look below! And if you’re in the market for cute Christmas PJs or accessories be sure to check out their selection here!

Holidays At Home

This year we are so excited to spend Christmas in our new home. I’ve had so much fun decorating every space for the holidays! I’m thrilled to be partnering with one of my favorite brands; Pottery Barn, to share cozy holiday pieces for your home, as well as a few beautiful gift ideas for loved ones! Holidays At Home Holiday Bar One of the first furniture pieces I ordered for our home was actually this stunning vintage looking trunk which acts as our bar in the living room. It’s so well made and I know I will have it forever! If you’re looking to accessorize your bar or give the man in your life some new bar tools, this dark bar tool set is really fun, as well as this ice bucket, and shaker to match. I also love this silver bar tool set and ice bucket – so elegant! You also can’t go wrong with these thick, hammered glass stemless wine glasses or white marble coasters. And how nice is this decanter that you can personalize with a monogram? Cozy Essentials For cozy nights in, give someone you love a plush Pottery Barn blanket or robe. Their faux fur blanket is the best, and this short plush robe is great for chilly mornings. I’ve been obsessed with these super oversized mugs for hot cocoa and soup (would make a great gift) and slippers to wear around the house. Gifts For Everyone A few other gift ideas that anyone in your life would love… I can never have enough coffee table books, and Pottery Barn carries so many wonderful ones, including this Architectural Digest book, this Louis Vuitton book (have this in my office!), and this Tom Ford book. You can’t go wrong gifting a deluxe Scrabble board, and how chic is this terra cotta bowl for fruit on the counter? This whiskey set would be great for the man in your life! Decor For Your Home While you’re buying gifts for everyone else, why not pick up a few things for yourself and your home? ;) I’m buying this faux olive tree for when we take our Christmas tree down. This gold picture frame will be perfect to put on my nightstand with a special engagement photo. I love displaying a coffee table book on this simple display. And many of you have been asking about my fireplace screen – this one is identical! I just ordered this fireplace tool set to match. Shop more of my favorite gifts from Pottery Barn below!
