One of the most frequently asked questions I received this past month was, “How do you keep things “spicy” and exciting in your relationship?” With Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought I would share a few tools I have up my sleeve and love using! First of all, even if you’re not in a relationship – these are fun things to treat yourself to. I’m all about self care and pampering yourself!!!
10 Ways To Spice Up Your Relationship
Think Outside The Box
If you’re feeling a little blah whether it be with yourself or your relationship, the best thing you can do is get out of your head and learn from outside sources. Maybe listen to a podcast – I love Call Her Daddy (raunchy but hilarious and full of great tips), and I recently watched Netflix’s Sex, Love and Goop series, which yes, I did find a bit odd, but it made me think about things differently. If you know me, you know I love to challenge my mind and think outside the box – it’s the only way we can grow!
Leave Your Ego At The Door
Don’t be self conscious, be open, be silly, have fun and just own your body and everything that makes you unique. I will tell you this with dead certainty – guys DO NOT care about fat rolls, cellulite, stretch marks, that zit on your face – or any of the stuff us gals get self conscious about! They literally do not notice them. Men are way more focused on other things trust me!!!
This plays into the above – own your bod and work it! Confidence is the sexiest thing in the entire world. Life is too short to worry about being 5 lbs heavier than usual or not having a thigh gap, or whatever! If you need a hype up girl – call your girlfriend, spill your insecurities to her and if she’s a good friend, she will hype you up with positive affirmations and make you feel 10x more secure.
A foot massage, a little neck massage, a head massage goes a long way. Start small and you will 100% forget about all of the stress from earlier that day. Your body will instantly relax.
Lingerie is an obvious one – and I’ve linked some of my fave pieces below. But even just a great bodysuit that hugs your curves and shows off your collar bone will do the trick for the both of you! Again, you want to feel confident so wear something you feel beautiful in.
A Proper Date Night
Being taken on a proper date is a truly underestimated way to spice things up. There is so much build up and tension that can happen before, during and after the date. From brushing each other in the hall as you’re getting ready, to feeling appreciated by being properly wined + dined, and then of course the oxytocin that is released from eye contact across the table… all culminates!
Ask For What You Want
As women I think we often feel like we can’t speak up, or we feel shy to ask for what we want. Please let this be the year that you put any embarrassment or shyness aside and truly just ask for what you want – and what you deserve! Open communication and dialogue is so important and the key to being in sync.
Put The Phone Away
Make your partner feel valued and seen by putting your phone away – even if it’s face down at the dinner table. It shouldn’t be on the table at all. And when you get home from a date or work – and want to really be present with your partner, keep it out of sight. A flashing bright phone screen with a million notifications is a major buzz kill.
