A Classic Houndstooth Blazer

Soho, NY

I recently bought this houndstooth blazer, which FYI just went on sale, and it has quickly become my go-to blazer to wear during the week. It’s a longer cut, with a structured shoulder and slim fit back so it elongates your entire figure. The subtle, classic houndstooth pattern along with big gold buttons makes this an iconic piece that I know I’ll be wearing in 10 – even 20 years from now. It also comes in this dreamy crisp white color.

The houndstooth blazer comes from one of my favorite brands; ALC.

I listened to the Second Life podcast with the founder of ALC, and it made me fall even more in love with the brand. I’ve been craving a brand like ALC for years. It’s classic and sophisticated, but also modern and feminine with just the right amount of edge. The materials she uses are all insanely high quality, and the attention to detail in every garment is obvious. Few designers today get the fit, pattern, color, and details right – but ALC does it time and time again.

Speaking of podcasts, I’m SO addicted to them! I listen to them while I’m getting ready for the day, doing my hair + makeup, cooking, cleaning, or walking around the city. They always teach me something, or make me think more in depth about a topic I wasn’t familiar with before. Some of my favorite podcasts are; Second Life by Hilary Kerr, The Skinny Confidential by Lauryn Evarts, Goop by Gwyneth Paltrow, Bad on Paper by Grace Atwood, and The Skimm by Danielle Weisberg and Carly Zakin. Such an incredible and inspiring group of women!!!

The founders of The Skimm are also in the book that I was recently featured in called; Earn It. I am so happy to share it’s already a BESTSELLER and encourage you to order a copy if you haven’t already. It’s jam packed full of stories and tips from women doing amazing things in their field. It really gives you an in-depth look at what it takes to succeed in the workplace today.

The outfit I’m wearing here could easily be worn to work or drinks.

You would never even have to change your shoes. I’ve said it before, but these heels that are from WALMART – YEP Walmart – are under $35 – and SOOOO comfortable. You’d never even be able to tell that they’re that inexpensive! I walk all over the city in them, stand in them for hours, and love that I don’t have to worry about them getting a little scuffed up or dirty. I’m tempted to order them in nude now, especially since summer is coming!
