10 Things To Do In NYC During The Holidays

Ahhh December in NYC!  It’s one of my absolute favorite months, especially in NYC.  The entire city feels so festive and magical!  I’m excited to be heading back in 2 days and celebrating my birthday with my nearest and dearest friends.  I wanted to share 10 things I always love doing during the holidays in the city! 10 Things To Do In NYC During The Holidays  Ice skate at Rockefeller CenterThere are tons of places to ice skate in the city, but this is definitely the most iconic.  The tree, the huge rink, and 5th Avenue decorated to the nines – ahhh so fun! Enjoy sweet treats at LadureeHead to Soho and grab a spot inside the gorgeous Laduree cafe for an afternoon of sweet treats! Get hot cocoa at The StandardThe Standard Meatpacking location also has a great little ice skating rink and they always put out the most festive decorations.  Enjoy brunch, lunch, dinner or cocktails there – or just grab a hot cocoa by the fire! Eat a decadent dinner at The Polo BarMake reservations well in advance to eat at the iconic Polo Bar restaurant.  The food is out of this world and the ambiance is so festive and chic.  Leather booths, velvet, plaid, and dark, moody lighting make this a truly holiday worthy spot. Grab brunch at Buvette and stroll around the West VillageMy go-to weekend brunch spot is Buvette.  It’s a charming French cafe nestled right in the heart of the West Village (my old neighborhood!)  After you enjoy a mouth watering croque monsieur – wander through the cobblestone streets of West Village and admire all of the townhouses. Shop along Fifth and Madison Avenue and admire the window displaysSpend the day uptown and pop into Bergdorfs, Tiffanys, Saks, Barneys and more splurge worthy shops!  The window displays are incredible! Sip on tea at The PlazaBook a table at The Plaza hotel uptown for tea and treats.  The space is gorgeous and so special for a girls afternoon! Listen to jazz at The Carlyle then have cocktails by the fire at The LowellThese two stunning hotels are right around the corner from each other and such cozy enclaves during the winter.  The Carlyle has amazing live music, and the Lowell bar – is so intimate – plus the cocktails are amazing! Grab Levain cookies and walk through Central ParkOk if you haven’t tried Levain cookies – then you are missing out on LIFE!  These cookies are insane – so thick, so gooey and famous for a reason.  Grab an assortment and wander through Central Park – you can thank me later! Stroll through Washington Square Park with a matcha from Bluestone Lane…And grab a pretzel too while you’re at it!  This is one of my favorite parks in the city – and it’s so peaceful in the middle of the day. Gift Guide: Coffee Table Books

One of my absolute favorite gifts to receive is a coffee table book.  I’ve got quite the collection going and nothing makes me happier than being able to add to it every so often!  The genres I’m drawn to are; fashion, decor, and cooking.  I love stacking fashion books on my vanity and in my closet/office area.  I place all of my decor books around my living room and then put my cookbooks on display in the kitchen. There’s nothing better than being able to sit out on my back patio with a cup of tea on a sunny day to flip through them – ahhh bliss!  I get so much inspiration and gather tons of ideas from each and every one!  I wanted to share stand outs from my collection that would make the perfect gift for someone special. Meaningful Gifts

When it comes to buying gifts, there are several factors I look for.  One factor that’s become increasingly important is if it’s meaningful.  I want a gift that is beautiful and unique – but that also has a special message behind it. I love that L’Occitane not only makes stunning products and gift sets, but that they also give back in a really big way. You may remember I had the opportunity to fly to Provence with the L’Occitane team two summers ago!   I was able to visit their factory, lavender fields, farms, shops, and even chat one on one with the founder; Olivier Baussan.  He is one of the most hard working, kind and down to earth entrepreneurs I’ve ever met, and he has built an absolutely incredible company that people all over the world adore.  Each L’Occitane product is sourced with the finest ingredients from local farms and they support the artisans – particularly female artisans. Meaningful GiftsIt’s become a tradition to give my mom something from L’Occitane’s lavender collection every year because she is obsessed with lavender!  This year we opened gifts early since she was visiting me in LA for Thanksgiving :)  This pretty lavender gift set could not have been more perfect because it has one of everything she loves; the bubble bath, lavender sachet, hand cream, hand wash, body soap, and body lotion.  It comes in a bright red, festive box and is insanely reasonable at under $75. My mom gave me the L’Occitane Blooming Rose Treasures giftbox which smells absolutely heavenly.  The body milk and little eau de toilette were my favorite pieces from the collection!  I love that there’s literally no wrapping required with these gift sets because the box is just so festive itself! Shop more of my favorite pieces from L’Occitane below – like the Immortelle Divine collection (one of my fave moisturizers), the Shea Butter trio, and the Almond cleanse and exfoliate duo.  And how perfect is this as a stocker stuffer?!
